and discipleship.

An introduction
to the spiritual and practical techniques of sermon preparation
and delivery. Various types of sermons are investigated.

This course examines what the Bible has to say about such concepts
as teaching, training and religious instruction. In general, the
course discusses the church’s role and responsibility to
train and instruct its members and families in the Word of God.

3082/3 The Work of the Pastor
This course examines
the relationships that are vital to a successful ministry and
reviews the pastor’s primary responsibilities. Such subjects
as church leadership, discipline, and worship are addressed.

This course is
an introductory study of many of the principles and procedures
used in today’s business world as they apply to the local
church and its leadership.

Expository Preaching
This is a practical
course in the methodology of expository preaching. It emphasizes
the step-by-step process of creating biblically based sermons.

3132 Introduction to Missions
The Bible’s teaching on missions is outlines through the
use of both the Old and New
Testaments. Two missions themes are treated throughout the study:
the redemptive people of God and Christ’s strategy for missions.

3143 Teaching in the Church
A theologically
based, creative approach to teaching is presented which draws
from the best modern ideas of teaching and learning. The theory
is then applied to practice with varying age groups in the church.

3152 Christian Counseling
A paraprofessional
approach to Christian counseling is presented. A method of counseling
called “agape therapy” is presented. This course is
not a theoretical approach; rather it is a means to practical
Christian counseling.

3162 Islam: Introduction and Approach
This course is
an introductory study of Islam, including its beliefs, practices,
and present status as a world religion. It offers practical guidelines
for effective Christian witness to Muslims.

3172/3 The Worship of God
This course gives
a clear understanding of Christian worship as directed by the
Holy Spirit. It discusses the necessity, value, and results of
worship and presents biblical models of worship.

3183 Christian Education Leadership
An in-depth study
of the general principles of administration and management and
their relationship to the task of the local church, with particular
emphasis on the development of a proper program of Christian education.

Introduction to Church Music
This course begins
with a study of the biblical purposes of church music. It also
deals with the function of music in church practice and outreach.

3203 Pastoral Counseling
It is a basic
course in pastoral counseling with a strong biblical orientation.
The student will study and practice such techniques as listening,
interviewing, bringing correction, and marriage and family counseling.

The theme of love,
or agape, is examined and applied to many kinds of human relationships.
Agape is first experiences when one meets God, and then it is
applied to other relationships of human experience.

A Survey of Modern Missions
This course focuses
on the nature of mission’s efforts since 1945. Recognition
is given to the strategy of the Holy Spirit in granting revival
for equipping and guiding the Church in its on-going mission worldwide.
This is seen particularly in the Pentecostal outpouring of this
century.

3913 Power Encounter
The tremendous
success of the New Testament church can be attributed in large
part to the fact that it moved in supernatural power, with signs
following. More and more contemporary church leaders are asking
the question, “how can we have this same power and success
in the church today?” This course is designed to answer
that question. It is a practical “how to” course for
power ministry.
