CLASS
ATTENDANCE
Students are expected to attend
all classes. The student, who knows in advance that he would be
absent, must make prior arrangements with the instructor.
No student shall be allowed to
pass a course (receive a credit) if the total of all absences,
excused and unexcused, is equal to or exceeds 20% of class periods
offered. The maximum allowed absences for 2 credit courses (which
meet 20 times during the term) is 3. The maximum allowed absences
for 3 credit courses (which meet 30 times during the term) is
5.
NOTE:
1. Excessive unexcused absences
will result in disciplinary action.
2. Students leaving class early
without permission of the instructor will be counted absent.
3. Fasting, overnight prayers
and all kinds of prayers are not considered sufficient reasons
to be absent from class.
4. A student will be considered
"tardy" (late) to class if he enters the class after
the class prayer and the teacher has begun his lesson.
5. Two "tardies" equal
one absence.
6. Going in and out of the class
during class period is not allowed. This disturbs the class.
When a student exceeds the maximum
allowable absences in a course, the Academic Dean will be notified
and the student will normally be dropped from the course. In the
exceptional case involving excused absences, the student may appeal
to the Administrative Committee for a policy waiver. Waivers will
be granted on the basis of course work being made up. Until the
appeal is processed, the student should get permission from the
instructor to attend the classes on a temporary basis.
When excessive absences result
in a student being dropped from a course, policies regarding dropping
courses will apply.
